Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most common questions about Volute: buying, where the olfactory notes come from, prices, favourites and how the guide works.

Can I buy a fragrance on Volute? No. Volute is a guide: the “Where to find it” button directs you to partner boutiques, where the purchase takes place.

Where do the olfactory notes come from? From the houses’ official websites. When a house does not publish a piece of information (year, perfumer, tiers of the pyramid), we say so.

Why do the fragrances not have prices yet? Volute only shows a price when a partner boutique actually offers it. Partnerships are being prepared: in the meantime, each profile shows “Partner link coming soon”.

How do favourites work? They are stored in your browser only, with no account and no data sent anywhere.

How are the fragrances chosen? Volute features emblematic creations from niche houses and major houses, across a variety of olfactory families. A fragrance only enters the guide if its house publishes its notes on its official website.

Who writes the texts? The fragrance profiles, note pages, perfumer portraits and guides are written with the help of artificial intelligence, based on official information from the houses. A discreet note says so on those pages.

What is the quiz for? Six jargon-free questions to discover your olfactory family and fragrances from the guide that resemble you. Your answers are not recorded.

What is The Volute Letter? One letter a month, with the new guides and a look at the world of perfumery. You confirm your subscription by email, and every letter includes an unsubscribe link.

How is Volute funded? Through links to partner boutiques and, later, discreet advertising: everything is explained in Our independence.
