Privacy policy
How Volute protects your data – data processed, purposes, retention periods, hosting and how to exercise your rights.
Volute collects as little data as possible: the guide can be read without an account or registration.
Data controller
The data controller is Tanguy Bressure, sole trader (French micro-entreprise), publisher of Volute.
- Address: 2 Rue des Joncs Commune Bègue, 97441 Sainte-Suzanne
- Email, for any question about your data: contact@volutefragrance.com
Data processed and purposes
- Favourites: stored only in your browser (local storage). They are never sent to us. You can delete them at any time by clearing the site’s data in your browser.
- Opening animation: your browser remembers, for the length of your visit, that it has already been played (session storage). Nothing is sent to us.
- The Volute Letter (newsletter): if you subscribe, we process your email address, your first name if you provide it, the language of the site at the time you subscribe, and the date and confirmation of your consent. This data is used only to send you the letter, once a month. This processing is based on your consent: the box “I agree to receive The Volute Letter” is never ticked in advance, and a confirmation email is sent to you; you are only subscribed once you click the link it contains (double opt-in). You can unsubscribe at any time, in one click, using the link included in every issue, or by writing to us. The form includes an invisible field designed to keep out bots: it does not collect any data about you.
- Contact messages: if you write to us, we use your address and message only to reply to you.
- Technical logs: as with any website, the hosting provider processes IP addresses and technical request information to keep the service secure and working properly.
- Audience measurement and advertising: none for now. If they are added, they will only be activated after your consent (see the “Cookie policy” page).
Links to boutiques
When you follow a link to a partner boutique, you leave Volute. The boutique, or the affiliate platform, may then set its own cookies, governed by its own privacy policy.
Fonts and resources
Fonts and all of the site’s resources are served by Volute: no request is sent to a third-party service (such as Google Fonts) during your visit.
Recipients and transfers
Your data is neither sold nor rented. The hosting provider, Cloudflare, Inc., is based in the United States: for data coming from the European Union, it relies on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, to which it has certified, and otherwise on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
The Volute Letter is sent by Brevo (Brevo SAS, 106 boulevard Haussmann, 75008 Paris, France), acting as our processor: it keeps the subscriber list and sends the emails on our behalf, and may not use your data for its own purposes. Brevo hosts its databases in the European Union; where it uses sub-processors based outside the Union, it relies on the safeguards provided by the GDPR, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. Your subscription passes through the hosting provider’s service, which forwards it to Brevo without storing it.
Retention periods
- The Volute Letter: until you unsubscribe. Afterwards, your address may be kept on a suppression list, solely to make sure no further letter is sent to you.
- Contact messages: three years after the last exchange.
- Technical logs: according to the hosting provider’s policy.
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectify and erase your data, to object to and restrict its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw your consent at any time (for The Volute Letter: the unsubscribe link included in every issue). To exercise these rights, write to contact@volutefragrance.com. You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (cnil.fr).
