Chanel
A fashion house born on rue Cambon, Chanel turned the couturier's perfume into a legend with N°5, composed with Ernest Beaux.
Official website(new tab)History
Gabrielle Chanel, already nicknamed "Coco", started out as a milliner: in 1910 she set up Chanel Modes on rue Cambon, at number 21. The actresses of the day adopted her hats, and her name spread. The house then grew along that same street, which remains its emblematic address.
Her first perfume, N°5, appeared in 1921: Gabrielle Chanel conceived it with the perfumer Ernest Beaux, and the house sees it as a break with the past, through its formula as much as its name and bottle. Ernest Beaux followed with N°22 in 1922. Volute presents here the house's main lines, filed among designer fragrances.
