Born in Alexandria, Egypt, Gaby Aghion settled in Paris in 1945. In 1952 she designed her first collection: Chloé was born, among the first houses to offer luxury ready-to-wear, a relaxed answer to the formality of haute couture. In 1957 the house held its first show at the Café de Flore.
