Born in Voghera in 1932, Valentino Garavani opened his first atelier in Rome, on Via Condotti, in 1959, and presented his haute couture there. In January 1968 his all-white collection made a lasting impression; that same year a first boutique opened in Paris, on Avenue Montaigne, ahead of Milan, Rome, New York, London and Tokyo in the 1970s.
