The house at 34 boulevard Saint-Germain, born of three artist friends, whose fragrances tell of travel memories and beloved landscapes.
Official website(new tab)History
In 1961, a painter, Desmond Knox-Leet, an interior designer, Christiane Montadre-Gautrot, and a traveller raised in Indochina, Yves Coueslant, opened a shop at 34 boulevard Saint-Germain in Paris. They gathered fabrics, found objects and discoveries from all over the world in a place halfway between an artist's studio and a cabinet of curiosities.
The house's first scented candles appeared in 1963, followed five years later by its first eau de toilette, L'Eau. Since then, each fragrance has started from a memory, real or imagined: a fig tree in Greece, a bay in Vietnam, a river in summer. Drawing holds a special place: the oval label and its dancing letters are part of each creation's story.
