Honorine Blanc
Perfumer credited by Goldfield & Banks for Sunset Hour, a fruity gourmand inspired by the sunsets of Broome and the Australian desert peach.
Career and creations
Born in Beirut, where she spent her early years, Honorine Blanc discovered perfumery in Paris and graduated with honours from ISIPCA. An invitation from perfumer Sophia Grojsman to work at her side brought her to New York, where she settled. The fragrance company dsm-firmenich named her a master perfumer in 2013; in 2026, the Fragrance Foundation in the United States gave her its lifetime achievement award.
She is the author or co-author of very well-known fragrances, including Yves Saint Laurent's Black Opium (see our guide to Black Opium or La Vie est Belle), Valentino's Born in Roma and Juicy Couture's Viva La Juicy. She says she does not believe in rules when composing, and seeks fragrances that are "imperfect and addictive", full of new ideas, tensions and emotions.
For Goldfield & Banks, she created Sunset Hour, a fruity gourmand inspired by the sunsets of Broome: Australian desert peach, pear and raspberry blend with jasmine sambac, salted caramel, vanilla and benzoin.
